How to Keep Wine Fresh with this Amazing Gadget

How do you keep wine fresh? This amazing wine gadget may be the answer you're looking for!
How to Keep Wine Fresh Long After Opening

Our co-founder Jonny got a new gadget for Christmas to keep wine fresh and he’s been itching to tell you about it.

Let’s pretend for a moment that he can’t finish a bottle of wine in one sitting…

Yeah, we know. Big stretch! But say you’ve cracked open something lovely on a Tuesday and you want it to taste just as good on Friday. What do you do?

Well, you grab a vacuum wine saver!

Not sponsored, by the way. Jonny doesn’t know the company. He just thinks this wine gadget is brilliant.

How It Works

Dead simple. You get four little rubber corks and a hand pump. Pop the cork in, give it a few pumps, and it pulls all the air out of the bottle. That’s it. Sealed. The claim is it’ll keep wine fresh for up to 10 days.

Chuck it in the fridge and forget about it. Happy days.

Why Jonny Loves This

Here’s where it gets fun. If you’re trying to train your palate (and honestly, you should be, it makes every glass more enjoyable), the best thing you can do is taste more than one wine at a time. Open a Rioja, a Malbec, a Sauvignon Blanc. Line them up. Smell them. Compare them. That’s where the magic happens.

The problem? Open three or four bottles without one of these and you’ve got about 48 hours before things start to turn. A wine saver lets you keep wine fresh across a whole week and a half. So you can dip in and out, try different bottles on different nights, and actually notice what makes each one tick.

As Jonny puts it: more variety, more tasting, more wine. Everyone wins!

The 6 Day Test

Jonny sealed up a lovely Rioja and left it in the fridge for six days. No peeking. No sneaky sips. Just the vacuum doing its thing.

Six days later, he pulled the cork and heard that gorgeous little hiss of air rushing back in. Good sign!

Then came the moment of truth…

The colour looked spot on. No browning, nothing dull. He gave it a swirl and the nose was still packed with fruit and that beautiful liquorice warmth you get with a proper Rioja.

And the taste? Banging. His words, not ours. Six days old and it tasted like he’d just popped the cork five minutes ago. No flatness, no vinegar, nothing off about it at all.

This gadget keeps wine fresh. Full stop.

Should You Get One?

If you ever find yourself tipping half a bottle down the sink because it’s gone a bit sad, yes.

If you want to have a few bottles on the go at once so you can explore and compare, yes.

If you’ve treated yourself to something special and want to savour it over a few evenings rather than racing through it, absolutely yes.

They cost next to nothing, they’re stupidly easy to use, and based on Jonny’s test they keep wine fresh for the best part of a week without breaking a sweat. We reckon you could push closer to that 10 day mark to keep wine fresh no problem.
