Rising River Merlot takes its inspiration from the Franschhoek River that winds its way through South Africa’s beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The vineyards here benefit from warm sunshine and cool mountain influences, helping the grapes develop plenty of ripe fruit character while still keeping a lovely sense of balance.
The wine itself is made using carefully selected grapes from quality vineyards across the Western Cape, with the winemaking overseen by Rickety Bridge’s experienced team. The aim is simple: produce a Merlot that’s generous, approachable and full of flavour.
In the glass you’ll find aromas of black plum and redcurrant, followed by rich flavours of black cherry and a touch of gentle spice on the finish. Smooth tannins give the wine structure without making it heavy, leaving you with a soft, rounded red that’s incredibly easy to enjoy.
